So when tomorrow starts,
And I'm not here,
Will broken hearts
Replace the fear?

When tomorrow's past
And the sun is gone,
Will the memories last
And still live on?

When yesterday's forgotten
And nothing's new,
Would you ever drop in
Just to hear me say I love you?

Today is what we've got.
Tomorrow is a dream.
Yesterday I forgot.
But you've not lost your gleam.

Author's Comments

Another poem. And, like many of my others, it follows the set style I use most often: four line stanzas, abab rhyme scheme.

This one lacks one thing: the macabre presence of Death. It's focused solely on the heart, and love.

Short, but with big meaning.
